Mayor - Mr. Edward A. Kidston

"It is with great pleasure, I
welcome you to the Village of Pioneer web site. Pioneer is a
small progressive community nestled in the northwest corner of
the great State of Ohio. Acting as Ohio’s gateway to Indiana and
Michigan, Pioneer is located just 5 miles North of the Ohio
Turnpike, one of the nations busiest interstate highways.
The village itself is quiet and simple, filled with unending
opportunities to help create a wholesome life for you and your
family.
Among today’s population, which totals approximately 1400, you
will find long term residents going on third and fourth
generations. In addition, you will find young couples, making
Pioneer home for the very first time, enjoying excellent
schools, parks and activities for their children. Likewise, many
retired folks enjoy the “good neighbor” atmosphere, fishing at
Lake Pioneer or the fellowship found in several local churches
and civic groups.
As Mayor, I lead an elected council of six dedicated
individuals, who work for the most part on a volunteer basis.
Meeting at least once monthly, we direct a full time
Administrator, who utilizes numerous employees to meet the daily
needs of the residents in a friendly and professional manner.
Pioneer residents enjoy the security of a full time Police
force, a modern dependable Fire department as well as Emergency
Medical Service, if the need arises.
Pioneer owns and operates utilities within the village limits.
Refuse, water, sewer, and electrical services are all provided
dependably and efficiently, at rates far below the national
average. Pioneer also can boast of one of the lowest tax rates
available in the Tri-State area.
Need a job? We have plenty! Pioneer works hard at creating an
economic environment in which business and industry can compete
and profit. During the past decade alone, industry and business
have added hundreds of good paying jobs for our local economy.
The immediate needs of life, such as restaurants, gas, grocery,
banking, and hardware are all available within the village
limits. Our business community is well established with some
operations now being managed by third generations. We have an
active Chamber of Commerce, filled with volunteers who are
deeply committed to positive promotion of the community.
As Mayor, I welcome you! Simply put, we would love to have you
come and be part of our family. Whether you are looking to open
a business, raise a family, or retire in style, you will find
Pioneer a warm and friendly place to live and prosper."
Best Regards,
Edward A. Kidston, Mayor |
